We Work For Health Statement on Administration’s Executive Order

We Work For Health released the following statement on the Trump Administration’s April 15 executive order regarding the Inflation Reduction Act’s harmful “pill penalty":

"We Work For Health applauds President Trump for recognizing the harmful impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act’s  'pill penalty' in his April 15 executive order, and for voicing his support for needed policy reforms to correct it. With his support, the President is prioritizing protecting the health of Americans who rely on small-molecule drugs — the pills and tablets used every day — especially among the Medicare-aged population.

"WWFH is hopeful that Congress will now take the necessary final step to advance legislation to end the IRA’s pill penalty, which reduces scientific innovation in a drug category that encompasses more than 90% of U.S. prescriptions. Fortunately, legislation already exists in the form of the Ensuring Pathways to Innovative Cures (EPIC) Act. This legislation provides the framework for lawmakers to answer President Trump’s call and turn his leadership on this pressing issue into law."
