The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - Indiana Chapter

Hoosiers Work for Health partner, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, has a two part mission: To cure blood cancers like Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

For more than 60 years, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has funded key research that has led to some of the historic first drugs and chemotherapy solutions for Cancers, as well as today’s cutting-edge treatments like bone marrow transplants, platelet infusions, interferon therapy and the Gleevec drug regimen . Many of today’s standard treatments and chemotherapy regimens were created from critical research funded by generous donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

For patients, the society provides a crucial clearinghouse for information, helping them link to other patients, ongoing clinical trials, and to the right treatment options in their area.  The society is with them all the way, throughout their cancer journey.

On the public policy front, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is working hard to combine its resources with outside funding sources and partnerships, to speed innovation.  It is pushing regulatory agencies to create a friendly framework that will help speed the pace of innovation and review for new Cancer therapies.  And as always, the society serves as the voice of patients when public policy decisions are made about standards of care.  The organization’s goal is to ensure that every patient has proper insurance coverage for their treatments and well-coordinated and high quality Cancer care.
